nisab meaning

The meaning of Nisab in Islam

The nisab is the minimum amount of wealth that a Muslim must have to be eligible for zakat. The rules on zakat are usually not complicated, but there are some exceptions. For example, if a person has only one sheep and it dies, he or she does not need to pay zakat on that sheep.

Zakat is an obligation in Islam which requires Muslims who own more than the nisab (the minimum amount) to give back a portion of their wealth in order to help those who are less fortunate than them.
