Challenge For Refugee Children

For over a decade now, refugee families have been living the unbearable; Coldness, gloominess, sickness, hungriness, cruelness, darkness, homelessness.

Nothing clear about their tomorrow. They’re living their days, day by day, towards the unknown, carrying an intolerable load of fear.“ What else is there, for those refugees in the dimness of the future.”.

In the midst of all this chaos, children are the most vulnerable category likely to face exploitation of all its obnoxious forms.

Children refugees are exposed to a list of hardships, whether they are internally displaced, in camps at the borders, or even within the refugee-hosting countries.

Here is a shortlist of the most common challenges that refugee children are facing constantly;

  • Harassment in all its forms, including sexual harassment.
  • Child labor due to their financial needs to keep themselves and their family barely alive.
  • Child abuse marriage.
  • Educational hardships. Whether being bullied at the refugee-hosting countries’ schools or never having access to education in the first place on the on-borders-camps.
  • Integration. The lack of awareness of the delicate humanitarian cases of refugee children made the hosting-countries-schools and community unable to reach out and help those children achieve a healthy level of integration.
  • Interaction. Almost every refugee child has gone through a trauma, made them unable to reach out and communicate with others. Most children are suffering from a mental disorder or a physical sickness that made them incapable of practicing healthy interaction with others around them.

Refugee Children Lacking Support in Education

Education is an essential key to achieving those core goals for refugee children and families;

  1. A secure life.
  2. A safe environment to grow up in.
  3. Healthy conditions to live in.
  4. Awareness of their surroundings.
  5. Achieving healthy and meaningful interaction with others around them.

Through the years of conflict, many refugee children could not reach education. Recently, many organizations responsible for the educational projects for refugee children are raising awareness towards their educational programs to encourage donations to help more children enroll in the educational-project-program.

There have been individual support and sponsorship for refugee children. However, according to the increasing numbers of refugee children and youth, the number of sponsors and support fronts must increase as well.

All forms of donations are important. To keep the sustainability of the educational projects, private, public, and governmental sectors, organizations, along with charities and other educational parties have come together uniting their efforts to make these academic programs more consistent and stable.

The goal of all these parties is to sponsor as many refugee students as possible. And enable them to finish their educational journey, obstacle-free. Because only then those refugee children and youth, will have the knowledge and the power to stand for themselves and their families, and make better choices for their lives and for the communities they are part of later on in the near future.

Child Protection

“Every child has the right to live free from violence, exploitation, and abuse.”

UNICEF — Child Protection.

UNICEF works in more than 150 countries to protect children from violence, exploitation, and abuse.

A few of the essential protection objectives set by UNICEF — Child Protection are;

  • To ensure that children, girls and boys, are safe wherever they live, learn, and play.
  • To ensure that children with special needs receive targeted support.
  • To strengthen the capacity of children to participate in their own protection.
  • To give girls and boys child-friendly access to asylum, refugee, other legal procedures, and essential documents.

Today, refugees are not only the responsibility of UNICEF, UNHCR, and the UN organizations. It is literally the responsibility of each one of us.

Many sectors today, public or private, are responding to the organizations in charge in giving donations for support and sponsoring refugee families, children, and refugee students.

Today, our mission is to partner with governments, businesses, civil society organizations, and communities to prevent all forms of violence against children. Maintain regular donations flow to provide a sustainable academic process for refugee children.

Education will empower those children to know their rights and to participate in protecting themselves from abuse of all kinds.

We as a community need to realize the importance of education for refugee children. Donations that we give, whether as individuals, sectors, charities, civil-society organizations, and communities, are crucial to help us provide refugee families and their children with better living conditions, and give them better options to live their lives according to.

Children in Need

Wars and armed conflicts have created many damages and massive crises all over.

Families who found themselves obliged to flee their homes overnight have left their entire lives behind them. Millions of children are missing their basic needs; nutrition, health care, education, playing, and safety.

The importance of donations that we are raising the global awareness of can enables us, among many other organizations, charities, civil-society community, and other parties involved, to let refugee children have access to their basic needs. Which are;

  • A good nutrition routine.
  • Health care and medical services.
  • Emotional, mental, and physical support.
  • Educational support, and school enrollment.

In addition to providing financial support to the refugee families to help them cover their basic needs if possible.

Sponsor a Special Needs Child

Sponsoring a special needs child can give the child the hope to a better living. Many children, unfortunately, have lost their physical ability due to the loss of their organs or body parts.

It is hard enough for refugee children to suffer the symptoms of trauma they lived through. Sadly, many  kids diagnosed as special needs children have more than one issue to deal with.

Some have lost one or both of their parents, others have witnessed the death of a family member or a close friend. This kind of trauma is never easy to overcome. The emotional and mental outcomes are unbearable for any person. Now try to imagine this on a child!! What does it feel like?

Donations can do a lot in refugees’ lives. But caring for a special needs child and sponsoring them can literally turn their lives around.
