Qurbani of a Camel

Muslims annually slaughter an animal (goat, sheep, cow, or camel).After the prayer of Eid al Adha,  between the 10th and 12th days of Dhul Hijjah, The last month of the Islamic calendar.

Our Prophet, Ibrahim, sacrificed his son Ismail for the sake of Allah; according to him, all Muslim slaughter an animal every year.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would offer his Qurbani and then offer another on behalf of his ummah and those that could not afford to do it themselves.

 “Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine that dies out after I am gone, he will have a reward equivalent to those among the people who act upon it, without detracting from their reward in the slightest,” (Ibn Majah).

Camel in Qurbani is split into seven parts. One person can have any number of features or a whole camel for Qurbani.

One individual must provide either one part of a large animal (cow or camel) or an exclusive small animal (goat).

“There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbani than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heart” [Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah].

  2. The blade should not be sharpened in front of the animal
  3. No animal should be slaughtered in the presence of another

It is best to slaughter the animal yourself, but you should remain present while someone else sacrifices the creature if you do not know how. It is also necessary to say “Bismillahi Allahu Akbar” when slaughtering the animal. Slaughtered animals are not to be skinned until completely cold.
