A future must be built in which refugees are included in the societies that host them; As they can engage in education and work, they are not only able to be self-reliant but also active contributors to local economies.

  • Providing jobs to the refugees.
  • Helping them with their basic needs.

As for refugees, there are also many ways to engage with the social community;

  1. Learning the language.
  2. Making relationships with the neighbors.
  3. Trying to get into schools and universities.
  4. Getting involved in social life.

Forced Migration and Social Cohesion

A forced Migrant is a person subject to a migratory movement in which an element of coercion exists, including threats to life and livelihood, whether arising from natural or artificial causes (e.g., movements of refugees and internally displaced persons as well as people displaced by natural or environmental disasters, chemical or nuclear disasters, famine or development projects).

And it is related to social cohesion because it is the strength of relationships and the sense of solidarity among members of a community.

Subjective Safety Within Host Community

Refugees face many issues in the host country with some host communities. Many refugees are coming from disaster areas or war countries. That is why many of them have mental disorders and need to treat for these problems.

Although the refugees faced all kinds of abuse in these areas, we all have to help them and take them off their mental issues. It is both sides’ effort to stand with refugees.

The personal security of refugees is an essential element of international protection. Unless the fundamental rights of refugees as human beings (to life, liberty, and security of person, to freedom from torture, from cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment, from slavery, etc.) are safeguarded, other rights and benefits guaranteed by international instruments and legal principles, as well as by municipal law, are of little use.

Social and Economic Benefits for Host Community

The host community has many benefits from having refugees, these benefits can be social or economic benefits.

Social

There is a misconception that refugees come into a host country and subsist on benefits instead of working. Though not every country allows refugees to work, those who allow this see just how productive refugees are. Often unable to use their credentials in other countries, refugees are known for starting from the ground up, and they are effective at it. If host countries loosen restrictions and allow refugees to expand their job opportunities, it could significantly improve the economies in host countries.

Economic

The more people participate in a country’s economy, the better the economy becomes. Economic activity alone is one of the many benefits of taking in refugees. There is an initial investment required when allowing refugees into a country.

  • Housing.
  • Language classes.
  • Healthcare.
  • Sustenance.

Social and Economic Benefits for Host Community

These things cost a significant amount of money to provide, but once refugees are established in their host country, the initial investment pays off.

Being able to work and make money, in general, allows refugees to stimulate the economy of their host country.

Refugees are permitted to work, and enterprise is very good for the economy, much more so than refugees that are not allowed in or not allowed to work.

Trust in Refugees and Organizations

There is an obvious problem between refugees and organizations and the social community.

Many people and refugees don’t trust the organization, whether local or international.

Everyone should help refugees directly without going to a third party. If it is hard to give them direct help, you can ask for trusted organizations that help refugees worldwide, or you can pick the area you want to give your help.
