S’ad ibn Ubadah reported:

 I said, “O Messenger Of Allah, My mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?” The Prophet said, “Yes.” I said, “Wich charity is the best?”, The Prophet said, “A drink of water.”.

We learn two important things from this hadith; the first is that we are encouraged to give Sadaqah Jariyah on behalf of a deceased loved one, the second is that the best form of Sadaqah Jariyah we can give is water.

Closer to Allah

Sadaqa is a charity given voluntarily in order to please God. Sadaqa also describes a voluntary charitable act towards others, whether through generosity, love, compassion, or faith. These acts are not necessarily physical or monetary. Charity comes in many forms, and one of them is long-term charity.

Long-term charities are one of the best charities that bring us close to Allah, and it also brings stability to society and tranquility to the poor and needy.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The best charity is giving water to drink,” 

so giving water is a great charitable act that brings us closer to Allah (SWT).

Water is a basic necessity of life, and it may seem inconceivable to imagine living without it. But the stark reality is that many people around the world do. Freshwater availability for drinking and sanitation poses an urgent and challenging problem, particularly in many developing countries.
