Emergency Response Program Goals

Bonyan organization works on a series of campaigns seasonally to support certain sectors in the emergency and critical conditions that have afflicted Syria for more than eleven years.

The type of services was mainly distributing tents, NFIs kits, rehabilitation of roads after heavy rain, opening roads blocked due to heavy snow, and responding to the evacuation waves.

Main objective:

Maintaining IDPs live\dignity by responding to their basic needs in a rapid manner.

List of Emergency Response Activities Conducted

  1. Conducting annual campaigns for IDPs.
  2. Distribution of tents, NFI kits for IDPs.
  3. Distribution of winterization kits that contain mainly winter clothes.
  4. Rehabilitation of unfinished\partially destroyed budlings.
  5. Rehabilitation of public facilities (roads, mosques, schools).
  6. Maintain access on main roads during snow or heavy rain.
  7. Provide transportation service for IDPs.

Emergency Team Strategy and Area of Focus

 

Within the built experience of Bonyan team in implementing Emergency activities, future projects will focus on:

  • Expanding the fund for this kind of project as this sector is essential in the Syrian context.
  • Providing access to more areas that help to cover extra BNFs with the ER program.
  • Bonyan teams have been working on emergency projects since their early start; taking this advantage, Bonyan will work on expanding its volunteer team program to establish a rescue team that can be ready to respond under emergency circumstances.
  • Bonyan is working to establish WHs in NWS that contain all necessary life stock for better response in case of emergency, especially in case of not renewing the Cross-Border assistant program.
  • Work on developing better solutions to respond to fire in IDP camps.

 

Key Achievements

  1. Bonyan was one of the first organizations that responded to all evacuation waves.
  2. Bonyan was one of the first organizations that responded to 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake both in Turkey and in Syria.
  3. Bonyan established the first rescue team, who is still active.
  4. Bonyan is a member of the fire mitigation task force who worked and still working on fighting fires in IDP camps.
  5. Bonyan used new materials in rehabilitating buildings to provide shelter to IDPs during emergencies.
