Benefits of Building a Mosque

Masjids are as old as Islam, as they are the symbol of this religion and the heart of every Muslim community. Our beloved Muhammad SAW wanted to establish a worshiping place for all Muslims around the world. Therefore he helped build the first Masjid in Medina.

The Reward for Building a Mosque in Islam

Building a mosque for the sake of Allah is a deed that will always bring you great rewards, both here and in the hereafter. No matter how little, creating a mosque offers numerous indescribable benefits. You will receive rewards for each and every person who enters to worship, recite the Quran, supplicate, and more.

Building a Mosque Hadith

The Prophet (SAW) said, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him” [Muslim]

A great example of Sadaqah Jariyah is the construction of a mosque! The benefits of helping to build a mosque are endless, and Allah (SWT) will continue to bless you even in the hereafter as long as people continue to use the mosque you contributed to.

Allah the Greatest mentioned several Verses in The Qur’an about the sanctity of Masjids and how sacred they are. Allah Almighty said, “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give Zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided.” (At-Tawbah [9] : 18).

According to Sharia law, a mosque may only be erected on land that is either donated by the owner or owned by a waqf (religious endowment). Additionally, without the owner’s consent, no one may offer prayer on private land. Prayers offered on the property are not permitted if the owner refuses.
